Pre-Ballet I (Ages 3 & 4)
Monday 4:00 - 4:50
This course is designed to introduce the young student to the basic elements of dance (Space, Time, and Energy) and the basic terminology and movement of ballet while developing their motor skills and social skills. The student will enjoy a structured environment filled with games and rhythmic activities designed to encourage an appreciation for ballet as well as music, and to promote an appreciation for self and others.
Pre-Ballet II
(Older 4's & Kindergarten) Wednesday 4:00 - 5:00
This course is designed to utilize the basic elements of dance (Space, Time, and Energy) and the basic terminology and movement of ballet as a means to develop an understanding of the structure and purpose of a ballet class. Students will become familiar with and develop an appreciation for the technical aspects of ballet and tap as well as an understanding of the joy of dance.
Elementary I
(1st & 2nd Grades)
Tuesday 4:00 - 5:00
This course is designed to develop the student’s ability to identify and demonstrate proper technique. The student will begin to study skills related to performance through an understanding of ballet and tap as a means of communicating meaning and self expression as well as skills related to working on stage.
Elementary II
(3rd & 4th Grades)
Thursday 4:00 - 5:00
This course is designed to further the students understanding of performance and technique. The students will begin concentrating on the development of muscles related to pointe work. They will learn all terminology related to performance. They will begin to relate kinesiology to performance and develop an understanding of proper nutrition as related to dance.
Intermediate
(5th – 8th Grade)
Tues/Thurs 5:00 - 6:30
This course will include a strong emphasis on the technical skills necessary for proper execution of movement while developing performance skills. Students will be introduced to a more extensive vocabulary to prepare them for their advanced studies. They will begin training for pointe shoes which includes proper fitting, how to tie the ribbons, and development of the proper muscles involved.
Advanced
(8th – Adult)
Mon/Wed 5:00 - 6:30
Like the Intermediate course the Advanced class will include a strong emphasis on the technical skills necessary for proper execution of movement. The students will also be introduced to more advanced combinations to prepare them for future training in dance. There is more emphasis on the technique of performance. These skills will carry them beyond high school.
*Class size is limited. Schedule is subject to change. Final scheduling is determined after registration is complete.

The 2011-2012 season will include the 27th annual production of The Nutcracker: A Christmas Ballet. The cast and crew are all students and parent volunteers from Natchez Ballet Academy and the community. We are proud to continue this tradition and hope you will join us November 17-19 @ 7:00 pm and November 20 @ 2:00 pm at Margaret Martin Performing Arts Center.

Every spring, our students volunteer their talents to this Natchez tradition performing as Fanny Elssler, a ballerina from Austria who toured the United States from 1840 - 1842 and CanCan in the Tableaux "Showboat".
